Supermodel Angela Lindvall and luxury jeweler John Hardy are glamming up Earth Day with the debut of a new bamboo-inspired collection. Part of the company’s “Wear Bamboo, Plant Bamboo” program, the Hijau Dua range —”hijau” is Balinese for “green”—features earrings, rings, necklaces, and cuffs in recycled sterling silver and 18-karat gold. For every piece purchased, John Hardy will plant enough bamboo seedlings to offset the carbon emission used to transport and advertise the product. To further underscore its commitment to be “greener every day,” John Hardy has pledged to donate and plant 600,000 bamboo seedlings for the Bali government.

Fans of Lindvall, a passionate environmentalist herself, should also tune into the video diary of her recent trip to Bali with Guy Bedarida, John Hardy’s creative director and head designer. And because good things come in threes, the video and jewelry launches coincide with the company’s latest initiative: a switch to 100 percent recycled (and recyclable) anti-tarnish envelopes to ship its wares, a move that will eliminate tons of plastic waste.

John Hardy started its Earth Day celebration weeks earlier when it introduced a new bracelet made from recycled silver and cotton cording. Two hundred of them were auctioned off at Christie’s A Bid to Save the Earth event on March 29, but you can also purchase the bracelet for $65 on the jeweler’s website. In keeping with the wrist adornment’s charitable origin, all proceeds will go to the Natural Resources Defense Council.
